Privacy Policy

How SETBIN CONNECT PRIVATE LIMITED collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information across Setbin — the Setbin Connect marketplace and Setbin SpareDesk.

1Introduction

SETBIN CONNECT PRIVATE LIMITED (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Setbin (the “Service”) — a mobile application together with related websites and services. Setbin brings together two experiences in one app:

  • Setbin Connect — a marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of devices, spare parts, and related products; and
  • Setbin SpareDesk (“SpareDesk”) — shop, inventory, billing, and customer-ledger tools for sellers who run a spare-parts or repair business.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect your personal information when you use the Service, and the rights and choices available to you. We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in accordance with applicable data-protection laws, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2Scope

This Policy applies to all users of the Service, across both Setbin Connect and Setbin SpareDesk. It does not apply to third-party websites, products, or services that we do not own or control, even if they are linked from the Service.

3Information We Collect

We collect information in four ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically, information from third parties, and business records you enter when using Setbin SpareDesk.

3.1 Information you provide

  • Account and contact information — name, email address, phone number, WhatsApp number, password, and preferred language.
  • Profile and business information — profile name, profile photo, shop name, shop address, and related store details.
  • Identity and verification media — where you choose to provide them, profile images, a selfie image, and store/premises images used to verify sellers and build trust on the marketplace.
  • Listing content — product titles, descriptions, categories, specifications, pricing, stock levels, and photos you capture with your camera or select from your device’s photo library.
  • Transaction and communication data — orders, enquiries, offers, messages, reviews, and support requests you submit through the Service.

3.2 Information collected automatically

  • Location information — with your permission, precise (GPS) and/or approximate location, used to surface nearby listings and stores and to compute buyer–seller distances. Coordinates may be converted into an approximate area label (e.g., district and state).
  • Device and technical information — device model, operating system, app version, language, and network state required to operate the app.
  • Push notification token — a unique token used to deliver notifications to your device.
  • Usage information — actions taken within the app (such as listings viewed or created) used to operate and improve the Service.

3.3 Information from third parties

  • Verification codes — one-time passcodes delivered to your email to confirm your identity.

We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not collect or use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

3.4 Business records you enter (Setbin SpareDesk)

If you use SpareDesk to run your shop, you may record information about your own customers, suppliers, and staff so you can manage sales, purchases, stock, and credit. This may include:

  • Contact details — names, phone numbers, email addresses, and addresses of your customers, suppliers, and staff;
  • Supplier details — including GST numbers and notes;
  • Ledger and transaction records — sales, purchases, payments, returns, expenses, invoices, and outstanding balances (credit / dues) associated with the people you record.

You decide what to enter, and you are responsible for it. When you record information about other people, you confirm that you have a lawful basis or their consent to do so. For the business records you enter, you act as the data controller (data fiduciary) and we process that data on your behalf, solely to provide the SpareDesk features to you. If a customer, supplier, or staff member asks us about data a shop has recorded, we will direct them to the shop that controls it.

4How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create, operate, and secure your account;
  • Publish and manage your marketplace listings;
  • Provide location-based features such as nearby listings and distance estimates;
  • Facilitate orders, enquiries, and offers;
  • Operate SpareDesk shop, inventory, billing, and ledger features on your behalf;
  • Send transactional and service communications (for example, order updates and verification codes);
  • Verify identity and prevent fraud, abuse, and prohibited activity;
  • Respond to your support requests;
  • Operate, maintain, analyze, and improve the Service; and
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Where required by law, our legal bases for processing include your consent, the performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating a safe marketplace, and compliance with legal obligations.

5Device Permissions

The app requests the following permissions, each used only for the stated purpose. You may grant or revoke them at any time in your device settings; some features may be unavailable if a permission is denied.

Photo library To select and upload product images.
Location To show nearby products/stores and compute distances.
Notifications To deliver order updates and service alerts.

6How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

  • With other users — information you publish in a listing (such as product details, images, and an approximate location) is visible to other users of the marketplace. Please do not include sensitive personal information in listings.
  • With your ledger customers (SpareDesk Ledger Link) — if you choose to share a Ledger Link, the customer it is issued to can open a secure, token-based portal to view their own statement, bills, and outstanding balance with your shop. No Setbin account is required for them to view it.
  • With service providers — trusted third parties that process data on our behalf to operate the Service (see Section 7).
  • For legal reasons — when required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Setbin, our users, or the public.
  • In a business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

7Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on the following providers, who process your information solely to deliver their service and under their own privacy terms:

Google Maps Platform Maps display, address suggestions, geocoding, and distance calculation.
Cloudflare R2 Storage and delivery of listing images.
Email delivery provider Sending verification and transactional emails.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers to understand how they handle data.

8Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain certain information after account deletion where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it.

9Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law (including the DPDP Act), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Delete your personal information (see Section 10);
  • Withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing; and
  • Lodge a complaint with us or the relevant data-protection authority.

You can exercise these rights within the app where available, or by contacting us using the details in Section 14. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. For business records held inside a shop’s SpareDesk account, the shop is the controller — we will refer your request to the relevant shop and assist as a processor.

10Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly within the app at any time. Deleting your account removes your personal profile information from active use on the Service; some records may be retained only where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention. If you need assistance, contact us using the details in Section 14.

11Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. SpareDesk also offers an optional PIN lock so you can restrict access to your shop’s data on a shared device. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored on servers operated by us or our service providers located in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

13Children’s Privacy

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Under the DPDP Act, a “child” is an individual under 18 years of age; processing a child’s data requires verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

15Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
